The Hotline is a confidential channel through which you can ask a question and/or report a concern about actual or potential misconduct, violations of regulations or laws and BASF policies and BASF Global Code of Conduct.
BASF has contracted with NAVEX, an independent company, to administer the Hotline globally.
When you call the phone number, your call will be answered by a representative from the NAVEX Call Center. After choosing your preferred language, an automatic announcement will guide you through the process. If your preferred language is not available, a NAVEX interpreter will join the call to assist with the translation of your concern to English. The call may be monitored for quality purposes only, but calls are not recorded and confidentiality is always maintained. Please be patient with the process as we want to ensure your concern is properly documented.
As an alternative, please use the option to report your concern online or via mobile intake here.
Once you ask a question or raise a concern to the Hotline - via phone or web - you will be given a unique report key and asked to choose a password. The key and password will allow you to access to your report in order to obtain the results of an investigation or to obtain an answer to your inquiry.
Any concerns regarding potential or actual violations of law, as well as of BASF’s policies and guidelines must be reported. If you feel uncomfortable speaking to your supervisor, the Legal or Compliance Team or any other internal contact person about your concerns, the Compliance Hotline allows you to file a report or ask a question, including anonymously.
Questions or reports can be related to any category of our Global Code of Conduct, such as handling of company property, antitrust laws, corruption and bribery, data and information protection as well as environmental and human rights issues.
An electronic summary of your report or inquiry will only be made available to specific members of the BASF Compliance Team who will review it and determinate the further action. The recipients of these reports are trained to keep the information provided in the utmost confidence. Depending on the nature of the report, the investigation may be assigned to the Legal Department, Human Resources, Corporate Security, Corporate Audit, or Corporate EHS.
Investigation teams work as efficiently as possible to review and resolve matters. But each investigation is different and thus the length of time needed to resolve matters varies.
Yes, if you request to remain anonymous when reporting your concern or making an inquiry we will respect your request. NAVEX does not generate or maintain any internal connection logs with IP addresses, so no information linking your computer to the Hotline is available. However, if you wish to remain anonymous, you need to ensure that your report does not reveal your identity by accident.
The Hotline also allows anonymous "Web chats" between reporters and the investigation team if additional information is necessary and enables you to receive notice upon the conclusion of an investigation. Therefore, it is important to follow up on your report regularly, using your report key and password.
Although BASF makes every effort to thoroughly investigate and resolve all good faith concerns, there are instances where the caller does not provide enough information so it is difficult for an investigation to be conducted.
At the conclusion of a case, a notification is posted to the hotline report, which you can access by calling the Hotline or logging into the web site and using your report key and password. The specific outcome of our investigations and any actions taken are confidential.
BASF will not tolerate any kind of retaliation against anyone who, in good faith, reports a concern or participates in an investigation, even if the allegation ultimately is not substantiated. Any such retaliation would be treated as serious misconduct.
You are encouraged to seek advice or report concerns without fear of retaliation.
Neither BASF nor the external Hotline provider can provide you with or reset your password, so safeguarding this information is important. If you lose your report key or password, you will need to file a new report and reference your previously filed report (noting the nature of the concern and the approximate date filed so that we can accurately identify the previously filed report).
BASF offers a mobile intake form to report concerns. Please use the following URL or scan the QR-Code for easy reporting on your smartphone:

In a few countries, limitations with the mobile telephone provider network may result in you being unable able to connect to the toll-free telephone Hotline. In that case, you can (1) try calling the Hotline from a “landline” (i.e. non-mobile telephone) or (2) make your report online through this web site. Please indicate in the report that the telephone number did not work.
