What is EthicsPoint?

EthicsPoint is a comprehensive and confidential reporting tool, phone and web-based, for employees, customers, and business partners to reporting knowledge or suspicion of violations of Swift’s Code of Conduct, company policies, and other forms of misconduct.

Why do we need a system like EthicsPoint?

Ethicspoint is an effective confidential reporting system that will support us in keeping the highest standards of integrity, ethics and trust.

Am I eligible to file a report?

EthicsPoint is a reporting tool open to Swift’s employees, customers, and business partners

How can I file a report?

Reports can be made by phone (currently only available in USA, UK, Belgium, The Netherlands and Malaysia) or online. Local privacy and data protection laws may restrict or limit the availability of the helpline.

What types of situations can I report?

The EthicsPoint system allows you to report suspected or potential violations of law, Swift’s Code of Conduct, or other company policies.

How do I know my report will remain anonymous?

An independent party triages the Ethicspoint reports based on sensitivity, complexity, and conflict of interest before assigning them to either the Legal and Compliance team at Swift or independent parties for investigation.

Why bother reporting what I know? What’s in it for me?

Corporate misconduct, at any level, can have serious repercussions within the organisation and harm our reputation and culture. By speaking up or reporting your concern, you protect Swift and yourself.

Isn’t this system just an example of someone watching over me?

Not at all. An investigation can only be initiated when prompted by you. EthicsPoint is another tool in our framework to ensure a safe, secure, and ethical workplace.

I’m concerned that the information I provide EthicsPoint will ultimately reveal my identity. How can you assure me that will not happen?

The EthicsPoint tool (phone and web-based) is designed to protect your anonymity. While providing your report, be sure not to give any personal details that could identify you. For example, “From my cube next to Jan Smith…” or “In my 33 years …”.

Will my PC log identify me as the report originator?

No. A report from any computer or internet portal will remain confidential and anonymous. The portal never identifies a visitor by screen name or PC log, and the EthicsPoint system strips away internet addresses to maintain anonymity.

Is the toll-free helpline confidential and anonymous too?

Yes. You’ll be asked to provide the same information you would provide in the web-based report, and an agent will type your responses into the EthicsPoint website. The same confidentiality measures apply to verbal reports.

What if I want to be identified with my report?

If you do not want to remain fully anonymous, you have the option to provide your name and email address. Providing more information will help us investigate your concern efficiently and enable direct communication for any questions about the case.

Tips & Best Practices

I’m not sure if what I observed or heard is a violation of company policy, or involves unethical conduct, but it just does not look right to me. What should I do?

The preferred option, if you are in doubt, is to file an enquiry. Enquiries raised in EthicsPoint will be brought to our Legal & Compliance department's attention. Filing an enquiry does not prevent you from filing a report afterwards. We'd rather you report a situation that turns out to be harmless than allow unethical behaviour to go unchecked.

What if a close colleague, my boss or other managers are involved in the violation? Will they see the report and try to cover-up the situation?

The EthicsPoint system has a strict policy to ensure that individuals who are implicated in reports cannot access any information containing their names. This is to protect the privacy and confidentiality of all parties involved in the reporting process.

What if I remember something important about the incident after I file the report? Or what if the company has further questions for me concerning my report?

When you file a report through the EthicsPoint web-based or helpline, you receive a unique, randomised number called a “Report Key” and are asked to choose a password. You can return to the EthicsPoint system anytime to access the original report to add more details or answer any questions asked by a company representative. We strongly recommend you return to the site during the specified follow-up time.

Are these follow-ups on reports as secure as when submitting the report?

All EthicsPoint correspondence is held in the same strict confidence as the initial report and is completely anonymous.

What if I lose my Report Key or forget the password I created?

If you lose your report key or password, you’ll need to file a new report. This is to ensure the report's privacy and confidentiality are maintained. Please mention in the new report that it’s related to the information previously submitted.
