Frequently Asked Questions

Who operates Macquarie’s Integrity Hotline?

Macquarie has engaged NAVEX EthicsPoint, which is a third-party hotline service that allows Macquarie staff and external parties to report concerns about Macquarie. All reports submitted via the Integrity Hotline are sent to Macquarie’s Integrity Office for review and investigation as appropriate.

Are there other ways I can report a concern?

Macquarie staff have many avenues to raise concerns and can find further details on Macnet. External parties, including former staff, current or former consultants, contractors, third party providers, auditors, brokers and supplies, are also able to report concerns about improper conduct by Macquarie under the Whistleblower Policy by contacting Macquarie’s Integrity Office directly at integrityoffice@macquarie.com.

What can I report through Macquarie’s Integrity Hotline?

The Integrity Hotline can be used for reporting concerns about improper conduct. Macquarie’s Whistleblower Policy defines ‘improper conduct’ as including breaches of law or policy or the Code of Conduct, as well as misconduct, or dishonest or unethical behaviour. Please see Macquarie’s Whistleblower Policy for more information.

Improper conduct does not include personal grievances e.g. a conflict between you and another employee, unless that grievance relates to detriment suffered by you because you have raised a concern about improper conduct. Macquarie staff should raise any personal workplace grievances with Human Resources or the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) team – see Macnet for details.

If you are a Macquarie customer, please visit our Feedback and Complaints Hub.

The Integrity Hotline is not an emergency service. Macquarie staff should escalate security incidents to their Global Security contact – see Macnet for details. If you require emergency assistance, please contact your local emergency services.

What information should I include in my report?

You should provide as much information as you have, as soon as possible, as this will enable a more efficient and productive investigation. For more information, please see Macquarie’s Whistleblower Policy.

What happens when I report a concern?

Once you have made a report through the Integrity Hotline, the Integrity Office will be notified and receive a copy of the report.

The Integrity Office will review the report and, where appropriate, conduct an investigation. The Integrity Office will contact you via the Integrity Hotline to ask questions, provide updates and/or arrange a time to speak. The Integrity Office will undertake any investigation sensitively and in accordance with Macquarie’s Whistleblower Policy. Please see Macquarie’s Whistleblower Policy for more information.

What happens when I ‘ask a question’?

Your question will be sent to Macquarie’s Integrity Office who will endeavour to respond within 5 business days. The ‘Ask a question’ option should not be used for reporting concerns.

Can I amend or update a report after it has been submitted?

You can add information to your report. When you submit a report, you will be issued with a Report Key, and you will be asked to select a password. You will be asked to keep this information safe to enable you to return to the Integrity Hotline through the website or via the telephone hotline to answer any follow up questions, submit more information, and/or receive updates.

Will there be follow up questions after I submit a report?

Macquarie’s Integrity Office may ask follow up questions. We recommend that you return to the Integrity Hotline on a regular basis via the website or via phone to review any follow up questions, and/or receive updates.

What do I do if I forget my Report Key and/or password?

If you forget your Report Key and/or your password, you will need to submit a new report referencing your previous report, or contact Macquarie’s Integrity Office directly at integrityoffice@macquarie.com.

Can I report a concern anonymously?

Yes. You have the option to make a report and follow it up anonymously. If you are making a report online, answer ‘yes’ to the question, ‘Do you want to remain ANONYMOUS for this report?’. If you are making a report via phone, tell the operator that you wish to remain anonymous. Take care that other information you provide does not identify you. If you choose to remain anonymous, the Integrity Office will not try to discover your identity. Please note that, in some cases, not knowing your identity can have an impact on the investigation and it may also be difficult to offer you the same level of practical support.

Are reports submitted via the Integrity Hotline confidential?

Yes. Reports submitted via the Integrity Hotline are handled by Macquarie’s Integrity Office in a confidential and sensitive manner maintaining your privacy.

Are follow up messages/chats also secure and confidential?

Yes. All information submitted via the Integrity Hotline is retained on the secure server used by EthicsPoint. The Integrity Office retains data in accordance with Macquarie’s Privacy Policy.

Will my identity remain confidential?

This means that your identity will only be disclosed with your consent, or where there is a legal requirement to do so. Please see Macquarie’s Whistleblower Policy for more information.

Will my company computer/phone/tablet, or server logs, identify me as a discloser?

No. EthicsPoint does not generate or maintain any internal connection logs with IP addresses.

What protections are available to me?

Macquarie will not take retaliatory action against you for reporting improper conduct. You should contact the Integrity Office immediately if you feel that you are experiencing actual or threatened detriment as a result of speaking up.
