The Hempel business is built on trust – the trust of both our customers and our employees. Trust is earnt by inspiring confidence through the way we do business.
At Hempel, we take our Code of Conduct and our Business Ethics Policy seriously, and we have always encouraged our employees to report any potential breaches or concerns relating to these guidelines.
Hempel encourages its employees reporting of situations where they suspect someone has ignored or intentionally violated laws or internal rules in the areas of Fraud, Corruption and Bribery, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Unethical Behavior of senior management, Discrimination and Harassment or Competition law violations through the channel you are most comfortable with, such as your line manager, another member of management, or a relevant supporting function such as legal or HR.
The Hempel Ethics Hotline is available as an alternative if you are uncomfortable reporting through other channels or where you prefer to raise your concerns on an anonymous basis.
The Hempel Ethics Hotline is also available to our business partners or other stakeholders to report serious and sensitive issues directly to the Hempel Ethics Committee.
Irrespective of who makes a report, or how such a report is received, including via telephone, e-mail, the Hempel’s Ethics Hotline, an investigation of the alleged misconduct shall be conducted. The investigation shall be prompt, objective and independent, and shall respect the confidentiality of the persons involved, while protecting Hempel’s legal interests. The scope of investigations shall reflect the complexity and nature of the allegations made.
Failure to conduct an investigation properly may harm the Hempel’s credibility among employees and other stakeholders, and expose Hempel to lawsuits, fines or penalties from authorities.
We do not tolerate retaliation against employees making a good faith report. However, false accusations willfully reported to the Hempel Ethics Hotline as well as repeated reporting of obviously unfounded incidents may have disciplinary consequences for the reporter.
About Hempel’s Ethics Hotline
The Hempel Ethics Hotline is hosted on NAVEX's secure servers and is not a part of Hempel's website or intranet. Any report you make will be kept confidential to the fullest extent possible in conducting a thorough investigation. Persons will be notified of and/or involved in an investigation in a "need to know" basis.
External reporting channels
We encourage you to raise concerns internally through Hempel’s own reporting channels. By speaking up, you give us the chance to review the matter and work together to uphold Hempel’s values.
However, this does not affect any legal rights you may have to contact authorities directly. For example, in the EU you may choose to report concerns to local government agencies; for more information, click here.
