More information about Speak Up

What is Speak Up?

Speak Up is our confidential channel which you can use to report concerns about things relating to Bupa that aren’t, or don’t seem, right (including breach of Bupa policies) such as the risk of harm to Bupa people, customers, the public or the environment. Each area of Bupa’s business has a Speak Up policy that governs how Speak Up operates. You don’t have to be a Bupa employee to report an issue which relates to Bupa.

How do I Speak Up?

You can share a concern directly with the Speak Up Officer of the Bupa business you work for or to Bupa’s Chief Legal, People or Risk Officers (see the Resources page for contact details). Or, you can share your concern using the Speak Up service referred to in this website which is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Do I have to give my name when I speak up?

We hope that you will feel able to tell us who you are. But you do not have to if you would prefer to speak up anonymously. Whether or not you chose to tell us who you are, you will be given a personalised report key and password which you can use to access the Speak Up service to receive updates from us.

What information should I give when I share a SU concern?

Whether you share a concern directly with your Speak Up Officer, through this website or over the phone, you will be asked the same questions. Please help us by answering all of the questions, particularly questions about which part of Bupa’s business your concern relates to if you can. Detailed answers help us to fully investigate the matter.

What if I’m worried about sharing a concern?

It’s important that you speak up because we can only deal with concerns if we know about them. If you are apprehensive and want to ask any questions about Speak Up before speaking to us about your concern, then you can do this via the website or by phone. And remember, you can do this anonymously if you want to.

What happens after I speak up?

If you share your concern using the Speak Up service, whether through the website or by phone, the matter will be channeled to your Speak Up Officer (your name won’t be given if you want this to be kept secret). We will confidentially send you a message via the website within 5 working days and the Speak Up Officer will make sure that your concern is properly investigated. Whether or not your wish to remain anonymous, you will need to log in to the Follow Up section of the website for general updates on how your matter is progressing.

Is the Speak Up phone line available in more than one language?

Yes, the Speak Up phone line can take queries and concerns in 75 different languages. Please bear in mind that, in the case of less widely spoken languages, there may be a delay and you may be asked to wait or we may have to call you back.

How do I access Bupa’s Speak Up policy?

There is a local Speak Up policy for each area of the business. You can find the Speak Up policy for your area though the Resources page on this site which you can access by clicking on the ‘Resources’ link above.

Speak Up is not an emergency service, if you are worried about any immediate threat please speak to your emergency services.
