Above all we act with integrity

At KPMG, our promise of professionalism to each other, our clients, and the capital markets we serve, compels us to align our culture of integrity with our values, words, and actions. By setting high standards for ourselves and our clients, our commitment to upholding KPMG's values is clear: there is never a situation when compromising our standards is either expected or acceptable. To support our culture of integrity, KPMG has a robust ethics programme that includes our Code of Conduct, as well as the Ethics Hotline.

Ethics Hotline

KPMG China's Ethics Hotline is a confidential reporting channel that facilitates reporting of possible illegal, unethical, or improper conduct when the normal channels of communication have proven ineffective, or are impractical under the circumstances. The Hotline is available to KPMG personnel, as well as clients, contractors, vendors and other parties for reporting concerns in relation to KPMG China.

Before using the Hotline, you are encouraged to consider raising your concern with your usual contact in KPMG China. There are many avenues available to you for getting help, and you should select the ones you think are most appropriate given the situation. Remember that KPMG or professional standards may require consultation in certain situations. Your supervisor, manager, performance manager or engagement partner is a good place to start.

Other sources in KPMG you may use to get help, seek advice, or report concerns include:

  • Head of Function
  • Office Senior Partner
  • Regional Senior Partner
  • Chairman
  • Ethics and Independence Partner
  • Risk Management Partner
  • Partner-In-Charge of People, Performance & Culture
  • Internal legal counsel

You may refer to the Code of Conduct or contact Quality and Risk Management for general assistance, questions, or advice related to the Code of Conduct.

However, if you remain unsure about where to go with your concerns, or you feel uncomfortable reporting through normal channels of communication, or wish to raise the issue anonymously, you should make a report to KPMG China via the Ethics Hotline.

The Ethics Hotline operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is run by an independent, third-party provider to help preserve your anonymity, if requested. The Hotline provides a web-based reporting capability as well as a toll-free telephone-based service. Regardless of how a report is made, KPMG prohibits retaliation against anyone who, in good faith, reports a possible violation or who participates in an investigation, even if sufficient evidence is not found to substantiate the concern. KPMG will take appropriate action against any individual determined to be engaging in retaliatory conduct.

How to make a report

The Ethics Hotline is available for reporting any concerns in relation to the following areas:

  • Accounting, auditing and financial reporting issues

  • Misuse, misappropriation of KPMG or client assets
